ABOUT DALLAS

Dallas is a culturally diverse and established residential suburb located approximately 16 kilometres north of the Melbourne CBD.

Bordered by Barry Road to the north and the Upfield railway line to the east, it is a key community within the City of Hume. Recently recognised as one of Melbourne’s most affordable and family-friendly enclaves, Dallas serves as a significant hub for the city’s Turkish, Lebanese, and Arabic-speaking communities, offering a lifestyle rich in multicultural dining and specialized services.

The lifestyle in Dallas is defined by its strong sense of community and localized convenience. The Dallas Shopping Centre (often referred to as the Dallas "Village") is the heart of the suburb, famous for its high-quality Middle Eastern bakeries, traditional butchers, and grocers. For recreation, residents enjoy several local green spaces including the Dallas Reserve and the nearby Broadmeadows Valley Park. The suburb is also known for its active community engagement, supported by the Dallas Neighbourhood House and various local faith-based organizations. Socially, the area is regarded as very peaceful, with a demographic characterized by long-term residents and a high percentage of families.

Education is a standout feature of the suburb, anchored by several high-performing and specialized institutions. Ilim College and Sirius College are prominent independent schools that attract families from across the northern corridor. The suburb is also home to Dallas Brooks Community Primary School, which integrates early learning through the Dallas Kindergarten, and Hume Valley School, which provides specialised education. For secondary education, the suburb is well-served by the nearby Hume Central Secondary College campuses. The high concentration of quality educational facilities within walking distance is a major driver of the suburb’s popularity among young families.

Connectivity is a major practical benefit for residents. While Dallas does not have its own railway station, it is perfectly positioned between the Upfield and Coolaroo stations on the Upfield line, both of which are easily accessible via a short walk or frequent bus services. For motorists, the suburb offers rapid access to the Hume Freeway and the M80 Ring Road, making it a strategic location for those commuting to the city or Melbourne Airport (just 15 minutes away). Recent infrastructure focus in the area has included upgrades to local parklands and the expansion of community support programs through the Hume City Council’s 2025-2029 Council Plan.

From a property perspective, Dallas is a high-growth and increasingly sought-after market. The housing stock is predominantly composed of 1960s-era brick veneer homes on generous allotments, which are increasingly being renovated or replaced by modern townhouse developments. The suburb is a "gold mine" for investors and first-home buyers seeking value in a tightly held, multicultural sanctuary near the city.
