ABOUT HIGHETT

Highett is a vibrant and evolving suburb in Melbourne’s southeast, located approximately 16 kilometres from the CBD. It has successfully transitioned from its mid-century industrial roots into a chic, family-oriented residential hub, characterized by a mix of traditional weatherboard homes and high-end modern developments.

Highett suburb is celebrated for its "village" feel and its unique position, offering bayside convenience without the premium price tag of its neighbours, Sandringham and Hampton.

The lifestyle in Highett is anchored by the lively Highett Road shopping strip, which has become a culinary destination in its own right. The precinct features a sophisticated array of independent cafes, artisanal bakeries, and bars, complemented by a large Woolworths and a variety of specialty grocers.

Residents enjoy significant natural amenity, including the expansive Highett Reserve, which hosts major sporting clubs and the popular Turner Street Playground. A defining feature of the suburb’s environmental landscape is the Highett Grassy Woodland, a three-hectare conservation reserve on the former CSIRO site that protects endangered native flora, including rare Yellow Box eucalypts.

Infrastructure and connectivity are major strengths, with the Highett Railway Station on the Frankston line providing a direct commute to the city in roughly 30 minutes. The suburb is also well-integrated into the regional bus network and provides easy vehicular access via the Nepean Highway. One of the most significant recent changes to the area has been the removal of the Highett Road level crossing, which has substantially improved traffic flow and safety for the local community.

From a property perspective, Highett is currently defined by the "Highett Common" project - Victoria’s first targeted Net Zero Carbon community. This 9.3-hectare masterplanned precinct is introducing a blend of high-density apartments and townhomes focused on sustainable, all-electric living, which is shifting the suburb's demographic toward young professionals and modern families.

Highett maintains a very high owner-occupation rate, particularly in the quiet, tree-lined streets surrounding Peterson Reserve and St Agnes Primary School, where the long-term community spirit remains a primary drawcard.
